Electrocution leaves aircon tech critical

The man is said to have sustained serious electrical burn wounds when he came in contact with live wires on a Springfield industrial site.

A MAN sustained serious electrical burns after he accidentally came in contact with live wires at a business on Intersite Avenue in Springfield earlier this afternoon.

The man was reportedly working on an air-conditioning system when the freak accident occurred, said Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha.

Paramedics and the Netcare 911 rescue unit arrived at the scene and found the man lying down on the roof of industrial premises with serious electrical burns. Medics stabilised the man on the roof and then placed him in a rescue harness before lowering him down the side of the building.

Botha said the seriously injured man was then transported, under constant supervision of an advanced life support paramedic, to a local hospital. He remains in critical condition.
