Durban North school named top in the country

National recognition for a local girls' school led to the Pinnacle Award at the National Education Excellence Awards.

DANVILLE Park Girls’ High School along with Eunice High School were named the 2015 national top public schools at the National Education Excellence Awards that took place in Pretoria recently. The ceremony recognises excellence in education at a national level and is hosted by the Minister of Education, Angie Motsheka.

The trophy is awarded to the top performing school in South Africa. Principal of Danville, Cally Maddams, said she was proud of the achievement.

“This achievement tops the four times our girls have achieved a 99 per cent Bachelor’s pass rate since 2008. We were delighted to receive recognition for these results, which are the consummation of the efforts of our motivated and receptive pupils and their supportive parents. Our inspirational staff, visionary management team and supportive governing body are united in their vision to provide Danville girls with the very best in educational practice, igniting intellectual curiosity in the girls every day and inspiring them to reach their full potential,” she said.

Maddams said all 132 matric pupils achieved a 100 per cent pass rate as well as a 100 per cent bachelor’s pass rate in 2015 – the highest in South Africa.
