Armed men hijack uMgeni Park resident

The hijacked vehicle was later recovered but police are searching for the suspects involved.

POLICE are looking for two men involved in the hijacking of an uMgeni Park resident on Soofie Saheb Drive at around 9.20am this morning. According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the armed men approached the owner of the vehicle, a white Mercedes, and pointed their firearms at him.

“The men sped off in the stolen car only to abandon it 30 minutes later because the vehicle was being tracked. They abandoned the Mercedes in Bonella and the men are still at large. The resident was extremely traumatised by the hijacking,” Deokaran said.

This is the first hijacking since September (that Northglen News has reported on) when a businesswoman was held up by armed men on Blue Ridge Road in Durban North.
