Man fighting for his life after Umgeni Road crash
Accident in Umgeni leaves man in critical condition.
A MAN believed to be in his thirties has been left in a critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle on Umgeni Road near to the Connaught Bridge this afternoon. Crisis Medical’s spokesman, Kyle van Reenen, said traffic was severely affected by the accident.
“Paramedics arrived on scene to find the man lying in the roadway having sustained a critical head injury. Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize him before he was placed on to a manual ventilator and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
“He remains in a critical condition on hand over at hospital. The driver of the vehicle was lucky to escape unharmed. Traffic was severely affected as part of the roadway remained closed to traffic while emergency services worked to clear the scene,” he said.
