Robbers pull off cash-in-transit heist

Armed gang make off with undisclosed amount of money in North Coast Road robbery.

A GANG of six armed men pulled off a daring cash-in-transit heist outside a Durban North business earlier this morning. Staff of the premises were lucky to escape unscathed after the gang overpowered two security guards collecting cash from the premises. The incident occurred at the Westview Service Station on North Coast Road.

According to Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, the robbers had arrived in a white Audi and a white Toyota Yaris and held up security guards who were collecting cash just after 9am.

“The gang arrived as the guards were picking up the cash. No shots were fired and there were no injuries during the incident. The robbers fled with an undisclosed sum of cash,” he said.

Greenwood Park SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
