Grieving La Lucia school calls for prayers
Victory Christian Academy is reeling in shock following the loss of four of its pupils.
PARENTS, teachers, pupils and the local community are mourning the loss of four Victory Christian Academy pupils who were tragically killed in a crash on the R102 yesterday. The children in their mid-teens were travelling in a mini-bus with about 12 people on their way back from an adventure camp when a truck collided head on with the mini-bus.
Vice principal of the school, Alison Hadfield, said she did not want to comment on the tragic incident and instead asked for the prayers of the Durban North and uMhlanga community.
“The pain and loss is still very fresh. We want to respect the parents privacy and all we can ask is that the community keeps praying for us,” she said.
The school via it’s Facebook page also thanked everyone for their prayers and support. The funeral service for one of the pupils, Saisha Shampersad, will be held tomorrow at Gateway Church, 201 Golf Course Drive on Sunday, 14 June from 12pm to 2pm.
Yesterday, uMhlanga ward councillor, Heinz de Boer expressed his sadness at the tragedy.
“My heart felt condolences goes out to the parents and to the school. We will continue to praying for the families in this difficult time,” de Boer said.
