Glen Anil robbers smash in door, ransack house

Robbers kick down doors in two separate robberies.

A GROUP of robbers smashed through a front door of a home on Beech Road in Glen Anil on Sunday using just their feet. In what has become a popular means of breaking into homes, thieves target weak spots, usually near the keyhole. The impact normally splinters the door, with robbers generating enough force with their feet. The incident occurred between 11.20am and 11.40am.

According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the family was not at home when the incident occurred.

“The men were in and out in minutes and stole a number of items before making a speedy exit. We suspect the same group was involved in another robbery in Sunningdale (Ratoon Hills Road) an hour later. They used the same modus operadi,” he said.

Powell also urged residents to activate their alarm systems when they were leaving their homes.

“Unfortunately the residents had not armed their alarm when they left the home. This sort of robbery may also impact on insurance claims,” he said.
