Explosives found at Sunningdale Centre

UNDETONATED explosive devices have been found at the Sunningdale Shopping Centre. It’s believed criminals were targeting the SPAR at the popular centre. Details are sketchy at this stage, but the bomb disposal squad is on scene and traffic is severely affected on Umhlanga Rocks Drive.
According to a police source, a security company responding to an alarm activation found criminals had broken into the SPAR.
“The suspects had ripped the alarm out and the security personnel found a number of undetonated explosives on the safe inside the store. At this stage the suspects may have been disturbed, or the explosives didn’t work, but they fled the scene soon after.
“We believe the suspects may be linked to a series of bombings around Durban. The bomb squad is on scene,” he said.
