Truck accident closes off M4
Two people were injured during an accident involving a truck along the M4 outside Umdloti .
THE M4 northbound, between Umdloti and La Mercy, has been closed off following a a truck accident about 40 minutes ago.
Two people sustained serious injuries after a truck veered off the roadway and crashed into a bridge on the M4 at approximately 2.15pm.
“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the two men trapped within the wreckage. While the Netcare rescue officer and firefighters used the jaws of life to free the injured, paramedics worked tirelessly to stabilise them,” said Chris Botha, Netcare 911 media liaison officer.
According to Botha the injured motorists were transported to a nearby hospital as soon at they were freed and stabilised.
The cause of the accident and preceding events is unknown and will be investigated by police.
