Alleged thief arrested in Durban North

A suspected jewellery thief was arrested after a scuffle ensued between a home owner and the suspect.

AN alleged thief  met her match yesterday afternoon when she attempted to steal from a home owner on Cranford Place in Durban North.

According to Lt Raymond Deokaran of the Durban North SAPS, the suspect (40) was arrested after she attempted to steal jewellery, valued at R20 000,  from the home owner.

“It is believed that she had entered the home owner’s property on the pretext of assisting the resident with her taxes. After requesting some documents from the home owner both individuals moved into a separate room, where the jewellery was allegedly taken,” said Deokaran.

When the home owner noticed that the jewellery was missing she confronted the alleged thief, who denied the allegation, and a scuffled ensued between the two women, added Deokaran.

Blue Security was altered to the incident and the suspect was arrested. She is currently in custody at the Durban North SAPS.
