Rescued pooch, Elliot, finds loving home

The young dog is settling into a new life with the Funnell family of Durban North.

WHEN he was rescued more than three weeks ago by La Lucia resident and Project Dog founder, Quicha Morgado, Elliot, the dog, was found scavenging among the bins in Tongaat.

She soon realised why. The Corgi cross German Shepherd had an embedded wire collar which had cut deep into his neck, leaving his open wound festering and crawling with maggots.

Despite his horrific injury and treatment at the hand of his previous owner, Elliot still had a friendly disposition and was extremely happy and full of love.

The only thing missing was finding a loving forever home. That has all changed thanks to the Funnell family of Durban North. After reading the article in Northglen News, Gill Funnell said she was moved by his story and the accompanying picture.

“I have seen other puppies in need of a home but Elliot said something to me. I knew we could offer him a loving home,” she said.
Her daughter, Katherine, who also wanted a puppy said the first time she met Elliot, he tugged at her heartstrings.

“We just clicked and made an instant connection. I wanted a new puppy, but when my mom asked me to go with her to meet Elliot, it changed all of that. He was full of boisterous energy and just full of love.

“He has adapted well to family life and he gets along with our Border Collie, Sky, and our three cats. He always wants attention and is full of love. He has a wonderfully awesome personality and he’s one of my best friends,” Katherine said.
