Man in dog costume assaulted

A man, wearing a dog costume, was teased and assaulted recently at Gateway.

POLICE are searching for five men who allegedly beat up a man in a fur costume at Gateway Shopping Centre on Sunday (16 November). The man was selling toys for one of the stores and was using a dog costume to promote his products, said Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North station.

He added the circumstances surrounding the argument and assault were still being investigated.

“It’s alleged the men were making fun of the man in the costume, they then began assaulting him. Nothing was taken during the punch up, but the man laid a charge of common assault at the station,” he said. “Unfortunately the men could not be identified and our investigations are ongoing.”
