Sunningdale burglars arrested

Four burglars were arrested in Sunningdale thanks to a resident's vigilance.

FOUR would-be burglars’ plans were dashed when a vigilant Sunningdale residents noticed them trying to break into a house in Village Way earlier today (Thursday, 17 July).

Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell said at around 11am on Thursday morning the Marshall Security control room received a panic signal from a client and multiple calls from a resident reporting that a number of suspects had arrived at a home in Village Way.

“The suspects had derailed the driveway gate and were busy breaking through the front door with a crow bar. On being confronted by the residents the suspects fled. One jumped over the fence and fled on foot. The other two burglars made their escape in a red Audi A1 that they had arrived in. Our first response vehicle was on scene within a minute and arrested the suspect who was fleeing on foot,” Powell said.

A description of the vehicle was circulated, and the other three suspects were subsequently arrested by Inanda’s Tactical Response Team.

“Housebreaking implements, including a crowbar, were found in their possession. Well done to everyone involved,” Powell said.

Powell said although crime in the area had quiet for a while, there’s been a few incidents in the area recently: “But thanks to the vigilance of a resident all the burglars were arrested.”
