Municipality confirms affected areas

The city announces the areas that will be affected by the water distruptions that resulted from the damage to a major water supply pipe.

THE municipality had to conduct an emergency shutdown to the main water pipe that provides water to the northern region today. Areas that will be affected include uMgeni, Newlands, Parlock, Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu, Mzinyathi, Amaoti, Phoenix, uMhlanga, Durban North, Virginia, La Lucia, Sea Cow Lake, Verulam, Mt View, Mt Edgecombe and Trenance Park.

The municipality in a statement earlier today said that they are working around the clock to fix the problem and will provide water tankers to all affected areas.

Residents are urged to use water sparingly.

Yesterday metal thieves stole nine steel cables in the middle of the 50-year-old water suspension bridge which caused it to collapse.
