Loads of musos to fill Splashy hills with sound of music

Don't miss this year's 25th Splashy Fen which promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

ALL roads will lead to the southern Drakensberg this Easter for the 25th Splashy Fen Music Festival, its milestone quarter-century.

The tranquil Underberg farm on which the annual Splashy Fen Music Festival is held will soon transform into a colourful tent town when thousands of people from around the country descend on the southern Drakensberg for a long weekend of live music in a spectacular mountain setting.

Running from 17 to 21 April, Splashy Fen #25 promises a line-up of more than 80 of South Africa’s hottest acts, including the likes of Jeremy Loops, Matthew Mole, Gangs of Ballet, Arno Carstens and Francois van Coke, The Black Cat Bones, Chris Chameleon, Nibs van der Spuy, The Guy Buttery Band, Dan Patlansky, Haggis and Bong, The Kiffness, Sibot and Toyota, to name a few.

And as part of the quarter-century celebrations, this year will also see the return of some of the showstopper bands that have helped build Splashy into the premier music showcase that it is today. Think big names like Just Jinjer, Squeal, Tree63 and WONDERboom.

Festival-goers can expect non-stop entertainment, top-class sound and lighting, as well as side-splitting stand-up comedy, loads of exciting food and drink outlets, a vibrant craft market and retail area, plus various camping and accommodation options. And that’s not forgetting the stunning mountain vistas, winding river and open fields that have earned Splashy its reputation as the ultimate outdoor experience.

South Africa’s longest-running annual music festival, Splashy Fen has something for everyone; in fact there’s nothing else quite like it. For many it’s become an annual tradition, and if you’ve never been before, then it definitely deserves a spot at the top of your ‘must-do’ list.

Tickets are available at Computicket and include camping for the entire four-night, five-day festival. For more information, visit www.splashyfen.co.za or contact 031 563 0824.
