Red Hill Cemetery cameras to be installed in June

Council confirmed that eight cameras will be installed inside Red Hill Cemetery in June this year.

MID-YEAR Red Hill Cemetery will be the recipient of eight newly installed CCTV cameras according to eThekwini Municipality’s head of Parks, Recreation and Culture Unit, Thembinkosi Ngcobo.

Ngcobo said the reason for installing the cameras is to monitor the area and ensure that no illegal activity takes place within the cemetery.

“The cameras will be installed before end of June and the process is currently between bid committees,” he said. Footage recording inside the cemetery will be monitored at the Disaster Management Control Centre and to ensure that they aren’t vandalised the cameras will be installed with security alarms.

“It will cost about R700 000 for the installation of the cameras and eight will be installed in various spots within the cemetery,” Ngcobo said.
