Kingsmead draws crowds for T20I cricket bash

DESPITE a loss in the final KFC T20 International (T20I) at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on Sunday, Durbanites came out in their numbers to show support for the Proteas.
Australia ultimately walked away with a five-wicket victory over South Africa with another dominant performance to seal the series 3–0.
A number of debutants were given a chance to impress in the T20I series with Proteas batsman Donovan Ferreira impressing the most.
There was also a return for homeboy and local resident, Keshav Maharaj, who made his comeback less than six months after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
For Australia, there were a number of positive, including the performances of Mitch Marsh, Tim David, Marcus Stoinis and Tanveer Sangha.
It is a milestone year for Kingsmead which is celebrating 100 years since the first test match was played at the iconic venue.
CEO of the KZN Cricket Union Heinrich Strydom was pleased with the turnout of fans.
“To have the whole series play out in front of the fans at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium was incredible. T20 cricket continues to draw fans to stadiums and with two world-class teams going head-to-head at our historic ground,” he said.
The attention now shifts to the One Day International (ODI) series starting on Thursday, September 7 in Bloemfontein.
