All supporters who showed up at the CANSA Relay For Life, made it the huge success that it was.

THE first post-pandemic Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) Relay For Life in KwaZulu-Natal was held at Oceans Mall in uMhlanga on Saturday with supporters coming out to celebrate, remember and fight back.

There were 40 teams, 60 survivors and 40 caregivers in attendance all who were eager and excited for the event.

The atmosphere was exhilarating with music, fun laps, talks and cheers which kept team members up all night and enabled them to complete their turns to walk around the track.

The market side of the event was abuzz with lots of delicious food items and beverages to buy, information desks, a photo booth, clothing stalls and more.

Speaking to Northglen News about the success of the event, sustainability coordinator for CANSA, Natasha Brown said the event was a huge success overall with the luminaria ceremony being the highlight.

“Supporters decorated paper bags and placed candles in them in memory of a loved one who lost the fight to cancer. Three of our survivors went around the track and lit each bag. It was very emotional for every one but it also symbolised hope. It was really beautiful,” she said.
