CP: Tell us a bit about yourself.
GSS: I was born and raised in Redcliffe, Verulam, into a family of subsistence farmers and traders. I also lived in Mount Edgecombe. I was a single mother who raised two beautiful daughters who are now adults, and I’m a grandmother of two intelligent boys.

CP: How and when did your love for writing start?
GSS: My book is a self-help informative memoir. Over the years, since social media became a ‘thing’, I put up inspirational posts, posts on healing, metaphysics and spirituality. Over time, I realised that I was good at writing on topics I was passionate about.

CP: Tell us where you got the idea for your book?
GSS: My guidelines for healing have helped thousands of people both locally and across the world, and I realised that it was about time I told my story. Prior to the book, many people who know me as a businesswoman, perceived that I came from a privileged background with very few or no challenges.

CP: Where do you draw inspiration from for your plot, characters?
GSS: My book is a real story. A story of me, a girl child, a teenager, and a woman who trudged through a hurricane and emerged victoriously.

CP: Where can readers find your book?
GSS: My book is available on my website, www.gaishriesharon.co.za, at www.madeindurban.co.za, on Amazon, on Smashwords and at Barnes and Noble.

CP: Will there be more books?
GSS: Yes. The success and rave reviews of Pain to Power to Purpose, A Journey to Transformation both locally and internationally, motivated me to start the next book. I am passionate about empowering people to live their best lives. Our past or challenges do not have to define who we are or how we show up in the world in the present moment.

CP: What can readers expect from you at the Durban International Book Fair?
GSS: I will be at the fair from August 9 to 13 promoting my book and will be sitting on the panel of discussion in the Inspirational Journey session on August 9 between 17.00 to 18.00 on the Phyllis Naidoo Stage.

CP: What are some of your hobbies and passions other than writing?
GSS: When I am not working, I spend my time meditating, in gym, participating in adrenaline sports, such as bungee jumping, dancing or reading. I believe there must be a balance in mind, body, and spirit to be able to foster life balance. I am an avid traveller. If I am not travelling to explore the world, I travel to spiritual places, especially places with high vibrational energy. From time to time, I get invited to give talks internationally, which I enjoy. I am a great believer that empowerment equals growth, and locally, I spend a fair amount of time facilitating workshops at disadvantaged schools and communities.
