Pedestrian shot in Sea Cow Lake robbery

The victim was shot in the leg in the incident.

A PEDESTRIAN was shot and injured in an armed robbery on Sea Cow Lake Road on Monday evening.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the incident took place at about 19:30.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a pedestrian was walking on the staircase between Kenville Road and Sea Cow Lake Road when he was approached by two men. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm. They demanded his valuables and robbed him of his cellphone. The suspects then shot the victim in the knee and fled on foot.

“Members of the public who heard the gunshot came to the victim’s aid and helped him down the staircase to Inanda Road and flagged down one of our armed patrols. First-aid intervention was administered by members of our Special Operations Team before handing over the patient to IPSS Medical who stabilised the victim before transporting him to a nearby hospital,” he said.

The incident follows another armed robbery where a pedestrian was shot on Peter Road in the Sea Cow Lake area.

Powell added that Greenwood Park police were in attendance and will be investigating further.
