Two arrested for Effingham house robbery
The suspects were found in possession of some of the stolen items taken in the robbery.
TWO suspects have been arrested in connection with a house robbery that took place in Effingham last week.
The incident took place on Belmont Road just after 07:30 on May 22.
According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the suspects entered the house when the owners opened their gate to let in their domestic worker.
“The suspects then entered the house through the front door, where they restrained both the owners and the domestic worker in the bathroom. They then made off with numerous household items in a silver Polo sedan, which served as their getaway vehicle.

“A day later, the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was spotted in the Cato Crest area with two occupants. They were searched and found to be in possession of various phones and cash. The men were then taken to the Greenwood Park SAPS for further processing and investigation,” Powell revealed.
He added that one of the vehicle’s occupants then admitted to SAPS members that they had participated in the home invasion.
“As a result, a search was conducted at their residence in Cato Crest, leading to the recovery of several exhibits. The investigation is ongoing, and several leads are being followed up on the outstanding suspects. We extend our gratitude to the SAPS investigating officer for his tireless efforts as well as the other members of Greenwood Park SAPS trio crimes,” he said.
