Walking the walk in aid of charity

The event was a huge success, attracting about 200 participants.

ABOUT 200 people took part in the Gran and Gramps 5km Walk in uMhlanga last Thursday.

President of the Rotary Club of uMhlanga, Vanessa Champion, said the walk was all about giving back to the community, exercising and enjoying the beautiful scenery and fresh air.

“Each participant received a breakfast pack, and those who made it to Breakers received a glass of champagne. It was all about the elderly coming together and getting fit, as well, but anybody could enter. Participants brought toiletry items for the needy with them,” she said.

This is the seventh walk that the club has hosted. The Square Ridge Pharmacy conducted free blood pressure and sugar testing too.

“We’d like to thank the community and sponsors for making this walk a success,” said Champion.
