The incident occurred on Mogul Crescent just after midday on Tuesday.

A MARSHALL Security armed response officer has been discharged from hospital after being stabbed in the forehead at a suspected home burglary in Effingham Heights on Tuesday.

The officer had responded to an alarm at a home on Mogul Crescent when he spotted the suspect exiting the home from the roof.

“Our officer spotted the suspect exiting from the roof of the client’s home, through which he had initially gained entry into the house. He then attempted to apprehend the suspect, and while doing so, a scuffle broke out, during which the suspect stabbed our officer in the forehead.

“He gave the suspect several verbal warnings but to no avail as the suspect continued to advance on him. At this stage, our officer feared for his life and fired a shot in the direction of the suspect to stop the threat,” he said.

Powell added that Netcare 911 Paramedics were dispatched to the scene, and they declared the suspect deceased.

“Our officer was transported to a nearby hospital for the injuries sustained due to the stabbing,” he said.
