Hyper by the Sea Post Office to reopen

A date on when the post office will re-open is yet to be announced.

THE popular Hyper by the Sea Post Office is set to re-open after negotiations to renew the lease were successful.

South African Post Office (Sapo) spokesperson, Johan Kruger said he was pleased to share the happy news with residents who relied on the branch for car license renewals.

The post office, which has been based at the Pick ‘n Pay Hyper in Durban North for more than 10 years initially closed its doors on November 23, much to the disappointment of north Durban residents.

He did however stress the car-licensing facility will be available soon.

“We are very pleased that negotiations with the landlord to renew the lease contract for Hyper by the Sea post office were successful. The electronic equipment had been removed since the lease contract came to an end on November 30.

“The network and computers are now being re-installed and we believe the car-licensing facility will be available soon, with other transactions following next week. At this point however, the car-licensing facility won’t be available,” he said.

Kruger added that if all went well the post office would reopen at the end of this week.
