Security guard shot dead in Springfield Park

The man was declared deceased on the scene, confirmed paramedics.

A SECURITY guard was fatally wounded in a shooting on Electron Road in the Springfield Park area on Tuesday morning.

According to Emer-G-Med paramedics spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred at about 06:00.

“When paramedics arrived on scene, they found a man, believed to approximately 50 years of age, with fatal gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased on arrival of paramedics.

“Reports from the scene allege the man to be a security officer who was shot by an unknown number of suspects in a drive by shooting, as he was arriving at his place of work,” he said.

Van Reenen added SAPS were in attendance following the shooting.
