Three trucks with looted goods recovered on Queen Nandi Drive
More than 15 people were also arrested on Tuesday night as community members stopped vehicles and trucks allegedly carrying looted items.
THREE trucks, allegedly carrying looted items from businesses on Queen Nandi Drive, were stopped by community members of north Durban with assistance from Marshall Security and Greenwood Park SAPS on Tuesday night.
The community members, stationed at the intersection of Queen Nandi Drive and Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road), also stopped vehicles believed to have items taken in the widespread looting of a Massmart distribution centre.
According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, more than 15 people were also arrested in the round-up.

“This morning, members of the SAPS and our security officers came under fire by armed men. We were attempting to recover more goods that had been packed into vehicles abandoned on the road.
“During operations on Tuesday evening we responded to calls made by community members of Greenwood Park, Rosehill and the surrounds who called for assistance. They had stopped several vehicles with items that had been looted and with assistance from Greenwood Park SAPS, three trucks were also stopped with suspected stolen items.
The arson and looting incidents, which have gone on for more than four days in two provinces, have seen billions of Rands worth of damages to infrastructure and businesses.
