Local residents unite behind Josh’s fight against cancer

Durban North resident, Michelle Reynolds alongside Tanyth Withers and Max Pichulik, have started the Team Joshie Strong campaign as a way to support Joshua (Joshie) Reynolds during his latest fight with stage 4 cancer.

A GROUP of local residents have rallied behind Joshua (Joshie) Reynolds who is currently fighting colorectal cancer for the third time.

Durban North resident, Michelle Reynolds alongside Tanyth Withers and Max Pichulik, have started the Team Joshie Strong campaign as a way to support him during his latest fight with stage 4 cancer.

They are facilitating a six-month series of lucky draws to rally support and raise funds for Josh and his family – to bring them some breathing space among the intense weight of this path.

“Knowing Josh’s story I think we, as a group of friends who love him, had the intention to do whatever we could to help. It was while chatting to Tanyth and her husband, Oliver in the UK that we came up with the idea. Initially we had intended on sending them on a holiday but that idea fell by the wayside as we felt it would nice but short-lived. So the idea came out where we would do a lucky prize draw for holidays that would move beyond the reach of friends.

“Thus started the Joshie Strong Campaign where each month the lucky draw prizes are themed around a South African province with stays, experiences and/ products from the region up for grabs. Our aim is to raise money to help him and his young family financially through this time. Besides the cost of treatment, Joshie’s new startup business which manages AirBNB properties, was hit hard during Covid-19,” Reynolds explained.

According to the local resident, for every R500 donated, you receive one ticket into a monthly lucky draw.

“The Joshie Strong website allows people to share messages of hope and support for Josh and his family, even if they can’t contribute. On Instagram (@joshiestrongteam) we are asking followers to draw a face, make a face, pull a face for Joshie. Another way of sending some love, and belly laughs at no cost. What I feel is incredible has been the openness of Josh and his wife, Philippa who wear their hearts on their sleeves. They don’t hold back in hope that their experiences with cancer will inspire and empower others,” she said.
