Four detained by Durban North SAPS for possession of car break-in implements

FOUR men were detained by the Durban North SAPS this weekend after they were found in possession of several car break-in implements including master keys and a car jamming device.

“Officers from our Crime Prevention Unit were on duty patrolling around Durban North when they spotted a White Nissan X-Trail which was reportedly involved in an attempted theft of a motor vehicle. They searched the vehicle and found eight master keys, a computer box, an Allen key, seven spanners, an engine controller, a signal jammer and two number plates. Police also found a diagnostic machine and other vehicle break-in instruments,” he said.

According to SAPS provincial spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala the suspects aged between 33 and 40 appeared before the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

“They were each granted a bail of R5 000 and the matter was remanded to 22 June 2021,” she said.
