The scene dates back to July 2020 where Mkhize got into an argument with the victims, Mthobisi Dlamini (26) and Sthembiso Dlamini (35).

Succumbing to his anger, Given went home and returned with a knife, stabbing both men fatally, and fleeing.

Investigation officer, Detective Constable Mhlongo of Greenwood Park SAPS, worked tirelessly to search for the man and on 14 July traced him in Bulwer at a relative’s home where he was arrested and detained.

Mhlongo worked round the clock with witnesses to ensure that the evidence against Given was solid enough to for him to be prosecuted.

“The dedication and commitment from Detective Constable Nhlanhla Mhlongo is applauded. The family and friends of the victim, and community are appreciative for the sterling and speedy investigation,” said Captain Jerome Slater, spokesperson for Greenwood Park SAPS.

“This also shows the strength of the SAPS in fighting criminal behaviour and bringing them to book,” he added.
