Durban municipality awaits KZN premier’s announcement on reopening of public libraries

The due date for all books has been extended to the end of August.

THE date for the reopening of public libraries in the city of Durban is yet to be set, according to a municipal spokesperson.

According to municipality’s Twitter account, the city is waiting for information from the provincial legislature as to when they are expected to reopen.

“Kindly note that libraries are still closed,” said Thobela Ngidi of eThekwini Municipality’s Libraries Department.

“An email will be sent to all members as soon as the date of opening has been announced,” said Ngidi. 

According to Ngidi, the due date for all books has been extended. 

“Please note that if  you have library books with you/at home, such books have now been renewed to 31 August, you do not have to call to renew them,” Ngidi reassured.
 
While the city is still unsure exactly when the go-ahead will be received from province, Ngidi also said people can drop off their books at the library if they reopen before 31 August.
