Orange bag collection service resumes

The public is urged to adhere to the weekly refuse schedule for their respective areas.

THE eThekwini Municipality will be resuming its Kerbside Orange Bag Recycling Programme from 1 June, although garden refuse sites will stay closed until further notice.

In a statement, the City said their Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit will continue to adhere to the standards set out by the Department of Health to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“The city thanks eThekwini residents for their continued participation in the recycling project and apologises for any inconvenience caused to the project during the level five lockdown period. The public is urged to note that garden refuse sites will remain closed under level four of South Africa’s Covid-19 lockdown regulations,” read

The municipality will continue to collect domestic refuse as per the normal schedule.

“The public is urged to adhere to the weekly refuse schedule for their respective areas,” said the City.
