Bag thief nabbed in uMgeni Park

Eyewitnesses had come forward to give a description of the suspect to assist in the arrest.

SWIFT action led to a successful arrest when a security guard called for help after a hand bag was stolen on Tuesday morning.

The guard was on duty at a local supermarket when the bag was snatched. Blue Security made the arrest in uMgeni Park shortly after the theft was reported.

Darrel Moodley, Blue Security tactical ambassador for the north Durban area said the successful arrest was a result of  quick action by the team.

“A member of the team was patrolling Brown’s Drift Road when he was flagged down by a member of the public who alerted him of a handbag theft at a nearby supermarket,”  he said.

“After receiving a description of the suspect the tactical team member set off in pursuit of the man. He was successful, a short while later, in locating and apprehending the suspect,” he said.

Eyewitnesses had come forward to give a description of the suspect to assist the team.

“The detailed description given and swift reaction of  the eyewitness  played an important part in tracking down the suspect. Well done to all involved,” said Moodley.

The suspect was handed over to members of Greenwood Park SAPS for further processing.
