UPDATE: Man (80) suffocated during Greenwood Park robbery
It's believed the suspects subdued the victim with a pillow while his accomplices removed the safe from the wall.
THE man found dead in his home this morning was 80 years old. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle Van Reenen the incident occurred at around 4am on Allenby Road in Greenwood Park.
Four suspects, armed with handguns, allegedly derailed a driveway gate before forcing entry to the home.
“The armed suspects confronted the homeowner an 80-year-old man demanding keys to the safe. Reports from the scene indicate one of the suspects subdued the victim with a pillow while his accomplices removed the safe from the wall. The suspects fled in an awaiting getaway vehicle,” said Van Reenen.
The homeowner was later declared deceased on the arrival of paramedics. The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
