Suspects target Sunningdale home in robbery

The panic alarm was activated by the homeowner's mother.

DURBAN North SAPS are searching for four suspects involved in the armed robbery of a Sunningdale homeowner in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the police station, the incident occurred at around 2.30am on Fernlea Road.

“Four suspects, two armed with knives and one with a screwdriver, forced their way into the house. The homeowner, who was asleep upstairs, heard the dogs barking and walked downstairs to investigate. One of the suspects pushed him to the floor and pointed a knife at him and demanded to know where the safe was.

“The homeowner told him he didn’t have a safe and the suspects then began ransacking the house. They stole a TV, a wrist watch, a laptop and cell phone and fled when the panic alarm was activated by the homeowner’s mother who heard the commotion downstairs,” he said.

According to reports the suspects fled the scene in a white Ford.

No arrests have been made.
