VIDEO and PHOTOS: Durban North matriculants excel

Hard work pays off for north Durban North matrics as NSC results are released.

THE matric class of 2019, who sat for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination, has bagged a 81.3 per cent pass rate nationally.

Northglen News chatted to, and snapped a few photos of learners from Northwood School, Danville Park Girls’ High School and Parkhill Secondary School as the results were released on Wednesday.

Danville Park Girls’ High School

DANVILLE Park Girls’ High School celebrated its exceptional matric results today as the class of 2019 obtained a 100 per cent pass rate. This is the 26th consecutive year the school has achieved that milestone.

Twelve of the school’s learners bagged seven distinctions while a further four, achieved six distinctions. And overall, 23.1 per cent of the class of 2019 achieved an A aggregate.

Principal of the school, Linda Scholtz said the learners’ dedication and hard work finally reaped benefits.

“You have proven that success is dependent on effort. Twelve years of hard work has left you with a very worthwhile achievement you can all be proud of. I would also like to thank the teachers and parents who have supported our young ladies over their full school career,” she said.

 

Northwood School

Northwood School also celebrated some fantastic results for the NSC exams. A total of 23 learners achieved A averages with four learners obtaining seven distinctions.

Overall the class of 2019 achieved 231 subject distinctions with 97.3 per cent of students qualifying for tertiary study, of which 80 per cent qualified with a Bachelors Pass.

“Special mention goes to our top three achievers; Ahmed Jajbhay (listen to our SoundCloud interview with Ahmed below) placing first with an average of 90 per cent, Mohamed Kolia placing 2nd with an 88.4 average and Keiron Naidoo achieving 87.3, placing him third overall,” said school principal, Paul Viljoen.

“Northwood management and staff congratulate our Class of 2019 on their fantastic results; a culmination of hard work from our learners, guidance and support from parents and unending commitment from our teaching staff.”

Parkhill Secondary School

Learners from Parkhill Secondary School were at their school early on Wednesday morning eager to get their matric results. Northglen News snapped a few photos of the students who are ready for their next chapter in their lives.
