City’s electricity SMS line sparks concerns

The eThekwini Municipality said the issue was down to technical difficulties.

LOCAL residents who are acoustumed to checking their electricity reading via sms may run into trouble as the 30909 SMS service is currently down.

Durban North resident, Elvia Els said she had been experiencing difficulty with the number for months.

“I have been sending my reading via sms for ages and it has always worked well. However since September,  it seems as if the service is no longer being offered. There is no acknowledgement of the sms, as used to be the case, and always estimated readings on the bill,” she said.
