Pedal power needed for Saint Giles fundraiser

The charity ride to support Saint Giles (#enablethedisabled) starts and ends at Pick n Pay Hyper By The Sea starting at 5.30am sharp on Saturday, 26 October.

PICK n Pay Hyper By The Sea has urged the Durban North community to get behind them for their first charity cycle ride fundraiser for Saint Giles, a non profit organisation for the disabled. They have partnered with Cycle Specialists Cycling Club who in the past have held various monthly rides to raise funds for the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC) and last year, Saint Giles.

The event, which is open to everyone will see cyclists choosing from three different ride lengths, uMhlanga, eMdloti and Westbrook.

Leonard Arjunun, manager of Pick n Pay Hyper By The Sea explained why they decided to start the cycle ride fundraiser.

“I’m a cyclist myself and I’m also a member of Cycle Specialists Cycling Club. I remember last year Neil (Abbott), had begun monthly rides to raise funds for the organisation and we thought why not begin something similar and give back to a deserving charity. We also hope to make this a monthly event but we will see how the first event goes. This event is open to everyone, whether you are part of a club or just a cyclist who would like to join in on the charity ride. We’ve also got an exciting raffle on offer so we hope that will also entice people to donate to the cause,” he explained.
