Two arrested after robbery on uMhlanga’s Millennium Bridge

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North station, the three suspects were involved in the robbery of a pedestrian.

TWO suspects, believed to be behind a number of armed muggings in the uMhlanga area, were arrested on the N2 on Thursday afternoon by members of the Durban North police.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North station, three suspects were involved in the robbery of a pedestrian walking along Millennium Bridge.

“The female pedestrian had been robbed of her cell phone and was held up at knife point. A description of the suspects was given to the officers and the trio were spotted walking on the N2 going north.

“Police chased after the suspects on foot and apprehended two of the men. The third suspect involved managed to getaway. The stolen cell phone was recovered and one of the suspects was found in possession of the crime used in the mugging,” he said.

According to Deokaran, the suspects have been linked to more than five robberies in the station’s policing precinct.
