Durban North residents warned to expect refuse collection delay

Refuse was not collected in parts of Umgeni Park, Prospect Hall and Parkhill over the last two days.

RESIDENTS are encouraged not to put their rubbish out after refuse collection was delayed in parts of Durban North yesterday and today.

Ward 36 councillor, Shaun Ryley said refuse had not been collected in some parts of Umgeni Park and Prospect Hall yesterday. Parts of Parkhill were also affected today.

“I am still trying to get more information. At this point it seems the situation is due to intimidation by some staff towards others which appears to be connected to the ongoing infighting within the ANC,” he said.

Refuse has been left on verges in the area.
Refuse is scattered across verges after collection was delayed.

Councillor Ryley urged residents to retain their refuse until the matter was resolved to avoid the spreading of rubbish in the streets.

“If residents are able to take their bags to the dump sites at Roadhouse Crescent or Malacca Road they are to please do so,” he added.
