Attempted murder case opened after Avoca shooting

The man was shot in his right arm during the incident.

GREENWOOD Park police have confirmed a case of attempted murder has been opened following a shooting in Avoca on Thursday evening.

Captain Jerome Slater, spokesperson for the station said the circumstances leading to the shooting were unclear.

“At this stage we have opened a case of attempted murder and are still investigating the circumstances around this case,” he said.

According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred on Tyne Avenue at about 8:20pm yesterday.

“He sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm, which ricocheted and struck him in the upper right chest. The man was taken to a Durban hospital where he was stabilised. He remains in a stable condition,” added Van Reeneen.
