Dead fish line uMhlanga Lagoon after major sewage spill

According to the Umhlanga UIP, the sewage spillage comes from the River Pumpstation in Blackburn.

UMHLANGA resident, Nicola Doxey was walking her dog along the beach when an ominous smell told her that something was wrong. As she continued down the coastline she saw a sea of black sludge washing from the Umhlanga Lagoon into the sea.

“The sewage smell was coming out of that big pipe at Bronze Beach. As I walked closer toward the lagoon I saw what looked like a black carpet and the smell was really bad. It is a disaster. There were dead fish. The unfortunate thing is that it was running straight into the sea,” she said.
