New leadership for Northlands Girls’ High School

Theven Reddy is now only the second male principal at Northlands Girls' in the school's 70 year history.

NORTHLANDS Girls’ High School newly appointed principal, Theven Reddy has described his appointment as a ‘great honour’. Reddy who began as a teacher of maths and physical science in 1990, spent the last 20 years in various roles at Pinetown Boys’ High School.

The Reservoir Hills resident started off teaching at the school in 1999 and was promoted to the Head of Department in 2007. In 2015 he was appointed as deputy principal and filled in as acting principal at the boys school for a year.

He is now only the second male principal at Northlands Girls’ in the school’s 70 year history.

“Northlands Girls’ High School has a wonderful reputation of academic, cultural and sporting excellence and it’s a great honour and privilege to lead such a prestigious school. I’ve received tremendous support from the school governing body, the staff and the learners which has been heartwarming. I work with a dedicated band of educators and I think we’ll make a great team,” he said.

Reddy, who has now been principal for a month now, said he and the governing body had a shared vision for the school.

“We have common goals of making Northlands Girls’ the number one high school in the area,” he said.

Reddy’s career choice was influenced by his father a former principal and his mother who is also an educator.

“My parents influenced me greatly and I’ve always seen my passion as helping the younger generation succeed and I’m looking forward to making a difference at the school,” he said.
