THE KwaZulu-Natal Blind Cricket team said its looking forward to the upcoming clash with the Hollywoodbets Dolphins on Saturday, 17 August at the Kingsmead Oval at 10am.

Northglen News had the privilege to watch the team prepare for its upcoming fixtures the Dolphins and chat with two players, Ndumiso Nyawose and Donovan van Noordwyk at the team’s training camp this weekend.

“We want to encourage as many people to come out and support the event. Entry for the game is free and I think it will offer residents a unique insight into the world of blind cricket. We are trying to get the Dolphins players glasses used by blind players so they have to rely on their ears to hit the ball,” Nyawose explained.

Fellow KZN cricket, van Noordwyk, said the friendly game also allowed the team to grow the scope of the game.

“Blind cricket as a sport needs more recognition and we are grateful to the Dolphins for agreeing to play us in a friendly. It would also be an opportunity to grow the scope of the game. It will also help us prepare better for the upcoming inter-provincials,” he said.
