Help the less fortunate this winter

DURBAN’S well-known Denis Hurley Centre has partnered with the Winter HOPE drive to bring warmth to poor South Africans this winter.

Winter HOPE or Winter Hoop as it is known in Afrikaans encourages residents to collect warm winter clothes, blankets and non-perishable food items for distribution to people in need during the cold winter months.

Last year more than 4 400 blankets and just over 2 000 beanies were collected via the Winter HOPE drive. Approximately 7 000 shopping bags with clothing items and non-perishables were gathered, and more than a 1 000 people were provided with shelter during the campaign.

The campaign started on Saturday, 1 June and concludes on Sunday, 30 June.

Donations of warm, clean second-hand clothes, blankets, scarves, shoes and non-perishable foods items can be made at any of the three convenient drop-off points in the Durban North area.
