Audiences set for theatrical extravaganza at Reddam play

Based on the well-known teen musical drama, Fame, chronicles the lives and hardships of students attending the High School of Performing Arts from their auditions, to their first year to their graduation.

REDDAM House Umhlanga has urged residents to support its upcoming play, Fame-The Musical. Based on the well-known teen musical drama chronicles the lives and hardships of students attending the High School of Performing Arts from their auditions, to their first year to their graduation.

According to director of the school play, Farla Ribbonaar, audiences are in for a theatrical treat.

“There is going to be exciting choreography and some inspiring performances from our learners so I hope the community comes out to support us. This year’s production boasts a cast of 100 students ranging from Grade 8 to 12 so it’s going to be incredibly exciting,” Ribbonaar said.

Northglen News also chatted to a few of the learners involved in the musical who echoed Ribbonaar’s thoughts.

Olwethu Madlala, a matric learner said they couldn’t wait to show audiences their talent.

“I’m really excited about the play. I think the cast all share such a good energy and I think that will translate on the stage. Like Mrs Ribbonaar said, we really want the community to support us and come watch the play because we are amazing,” she said.

Jason Brown, who is also part of the play will be singing a solo.

“It will be my first ever solo and Mrs Ribbonaar saw something in me so I think that will show on stage. This is going to be an amazing play, I too hope we get the community’s support,” he said.
