Suspect struck by car in uMhlanga getaway attempt

The suspect and an accomplice had earlier robbed a pedestrian of his cell phone at knifepoint.

A SUSPECT involved in the robbery of a pedestrian on the M41 bridge is in a critical condition after his attempt to make a clean getaway ended with him being knocked down by a vehicle.

According to the Durban North SAPS, the suspect, along with his accomplice on Tuesday night at about 9pm, had robbed a pedestrian of his cell phone at knife point.

The victim then chased the suspects who attempted to run across the M41.

One of the suspects was struck by a car and was taken through to hospital in critical condition.

The second suspect involved in the armed robbery managed to getaway and is still at large.

A case of robbery was opened and the stolen cell phone was recovered.
