Armed men storm Avoca home

The suspects managed to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and home appliances including cellphones.

SIX armed suspects are still on the run and police are urging anyone with information that may lead to their arrests to come forward. According to Greenwood Park police, the four men broke into an Avoca home Wednesday morning.

“Four of the suspects gained entry to the Tyne Avenue home through a pedestrian gate and broke into the house while the family was sleeping. Before ransacking the home one of the armed suspects attacked the homeowner with the back of a gun,” said Greenwood Park spokesperson Sergeant Vincent Mthembu.

The suspects managed to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and home appliances including cell phones.

Mthembu went on to say, “Even though a number of shots were fired during this incident, no one was hit. We are urging community members or anyone who may have any information on the suspect to come forward.”

The other two suspects were waiting in a getaway vehicle.
