Postal strike affects municipal bills

The delivery of eThekwini Municipality bills has been delayed by industrial action taking place at post offices in the province.

THE City is experiencing difficulty in getting bills to customers due to labour challenges faced by the South African Post Office. The delivery of eThekwini Municipality bills has been delayed by industrial action taking place at post offices in the province.

The City has encouraged residents to register via e-Services to receive their bills via email.

“We utilise the Post Office to get our bills to our customers. We acknowledge that customers have not received their monthly bill and we urge them to register on e-Services as it is fast, efficient, paperless and convenient. Customers can contact the municipality if they require a copy of their bill,” said Khanyi Gama, deputy head of customer services explained.

Nobuhle Njapha from the SA Post Office explained that unprocessed mail that has accumulated in sorting centres will take roughly 20 work days to be processed.

The City’s e-Services portal offers a variety of features which includes the updating of account information and the delivery of accounts to linked email addresses.
