Mother allegedly suffocates son (7), attempts suicide in uMhlanga
The 34-year-old woman appeared at the Durban Magistrate's Court yesterday.
A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy has died after his mother allegedly suffocated him and then tried to kill herself at a bed and breakfast in uMhlanga on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson, Col Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident saying a case of murder is being investigated by Durban North SAPS.
Zwane told the Northglen News that the 34-year-old woman had tried to to commit suicide by cutting her wrists with a razor blade.

“The suspect was arrested after the owner of the establishment reported the incident to the police,” he said.
She was reportedly taken to hospital under police guard.
When asked about allegations that the mother had also fed the boy pills he said they were waiting for a post mortem to establish all the facts.
He confirmed that the woman had appeared at the Durban Durban Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
