WATCH: Emergency personnel rescue cat from car engine

The little kitten, named Moon, was reunited with her owners thanks to her microchip.

THE owners of a kitten called Moon will forever be grateful for the assistance from emergency personnel who mounted a rescue operation on Monday to save the feline.

Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen was one of the first responders on scene to help rescue the trapped feline who was successfully reunited with her owners.

“The kitten had lodged itself in the engine bay of a resident’s vehicle on Terrence Place. It’s still unknown how the little girl managed to wedge herself in the small space. Attempts to coax her out with tuna and other treats were unsuccessful and our team had to intervene by removing a side dust cover in the vehicles wheel arch, after which we were able to reach in and pull the kitten to safety.

“Once freed and comforted, she was taken through to Ashburne Veterinary Clinic for a check-up. We are happy to report that not only was little ‘Moon’ found to be in perfect health, but she was also fitted with a pet identity chip which assisted in reuniting her with her mom,” he said.
